The town of Skibbereen is home to many thriving pubs & Restaurants, many of which feature traditional Irish Music, ballads, etc. Other towns and sites to visit, all within a twenty mile radius, include Rosscarbery, Union Hall, Glandore, Baltimore, Ballydehob, Schull, Bantry, while the Mizen Head, with its Visitor Centre, is the southernmost point of Ireland, and well worth a visit on a fine day.
Every Thursday afternoon, the Country Market operates from Abbeystrewry Parochial Hall, while on Saturday, the Skibbereen Farmers Market is held from 9.30am until 1.30pm at the Fairfield. Each provides an excellent range of food, crafts, bric-a-brac, etc. This is rural Ireland at its best. The cattle market is held on Fridays.
